
About Sylvia
Sylvia Collazo has a doctorate in Exceptional Student Education (Special Education) from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) where she specialized in early childhood. She recently completed her dissertation examining the effects of a professional development training package she developed on nature-based teaching strategies for early childhood educators of children with developmental disabilities.
Driven by her personal experiences as a sibling of a now-adult with special needs, Sylvia has spent 20 years serving children with disabilities, their families, and fellow educators in a variety of roles, including early childhood special education teacher, inclusion specialist, behavior therapist, professional development trainer, and consultant. As a certified yoga teacher and instructor for Baby Signs®, she is passionate about creating programs that support teachers and caregivers cultivate mindful connections and help young children thrive. She loves listening to music, reading inspirational books, practicing yoga, and photographing nature as well as spending time with her husband, family, and furry children.
